Old World French China Cabinet

I painted an old china cabinet that was pretty rough: nicks in the wood, small splits and dents. I found my inspiration from a magazine photo of a kitchen island. (See before photos in the post here ). I went with a different color palette that came from a little wool rug which I love. (I only started using it as a rug after owning it for 5 years….)

You can see the little rug perfectly matches the cabinet. Will they stay together? No. No, they will not. I am selling the cabinet and cannot bear to part with the rug. It is mine.

Here’s a little close-up of the grooves, and colorful trim. I used a dark glaze to help age the piece and tone down the brightness of some of the colors.

The cabinet now has an old world, French country feel.
